SCS | ATS | TMP

The Begining

As many of you that have been a fan of SCS's game called American Truck Simulator, TMP has been part of it. After just playing ATS for a week, over 5 years ago, I discovered TMP and what they had to offer to so many people, a massive muliplayer server. I have seen the server grow from 100 to 200 and then 200 to 500 throughout the years.

The Glory Days

ATS on TMP has never seen it better than the year that SCS released Colorado, which in return filled the TMP Server with 600 to 800 players but the true glory was when ProMods Canada was introduced and then the server was filled to the point to where TMP had to increase its size because there was a queue just to get on the US Server, we are talking about more than 1,200 players, trucking in a ATS Server. Those were the glory days

Where Are We Now

SCS came through with one of their promises, they introduced SCS Convoy Server. The idea that SCS had in plan came to be but it took such a large toll to what TMP had done. All thought there are far more players the prefer Single Player over TMP according to Steam, the total amount of players playing the game versus the amount of TMP. I believe that SCS had taken players from TMP, but also you must factor in the way the game moderation has taken its toll as well. I believe game moderation purpose is to control (Ban) the trolls that like to reek havoc in the game, not ban those that have near misses or get into small accidents. Enforcing rules violation to a certain degree will only see where we are today, low numbers of players on all 3 ATS Servers.

Can We Get Back To Where We Were

I believe there are a few things that TMP offers over SCS's Convoy Server, but there a few few things TMP must do to grow once again.
1st: TMP must offer all VTC the opportunity to promote their VTCs within the game not only to attract new members but have current members see their VTC represented in the game. Their are so many Billboards in the game and new one that can be added.
2nd: Offer VTCs the ability to show one paint skin of the company, on one trailer type.

How do you go about it, Rent out billboard space, rent out the use of your company's skin, you also must take into consideration the size and the activeness of the VTC.

I am sure their are lots of creative ideas, these must be shared.

If you have any ideas, share them with TMP, lets see if we can see those Glory Days that were so enjoyable.

Rex as we called him, passed late Aug 2021 and the news came as a shock to all of us in OTR. We held the Memory Convoy Saturday the 9th, 2021 on the US Sim Server. The convoy started in Seattle and finished in San Diego. We commenced the convoy at 8:00 PM EST to an overwhelming support of 85 to 95 drivers from a wide range of VTCs. OTR Trucking Co. as well as form Rex's family & friends would like to thank all those that paid respect to one of our very own.

As all of you know the ATS is known for having a great community and for that reason we at OTR Trucking Co. will be celebrating this coming Saturday the 16th, I milestone in a VTC history. Lets all continue to show the support for the ATS Community by celebrating together with 12-PK Trucking and their** 3 years**.

* # Special Event

As SCS Software recently released Oklahoma and the W900 Tuning Pack, TMP has seen an increase on the ATS US-Sim-Server. This show potential if either SCS or TMP would come up with a large Event, TMP is in a great position too also increase even more.

Like in the past when SCS held an amazing event called Operation Big Sur, that saw so many drivers on TMP that there were traffic jams to just deliver your loads off. I believe such an event like this can be recreated by SCS or TMP but this time in the quarries of Clifton. Create a two month long event to the bottom of the Clifton Quarry in which we must haul out Sand, Gravel and light equipment. There are many ideas to increase the numbers on TMP and they have somewhat increased, lets not let it die down again.

Gaming Through The Pandemic

“Our entire lives have led up to this,” my friends joked with me in mid-March.

In this age of long-haul social distancing and mental-health strains, gamers have long had a tool that’s now bringing some relief to those who’ve never picked up a controller before. The explosive growth of gaming during the pandemic has shown that many have found a new outlet for much-needed connection in isolation. When shelter-in-place orders came down, millions of people around the world turned to tech-fueled diversions to stay in touch with family and friends, like video games such as American Truck Simulator.
Gaming has skyrocketed during the pandemic, reaching people who’d play every now and then, or even those who had previously snubbed it entirely. In the US alone, four out of five consumers in one survey played video games in the last six months, according to a new study by NPD, an American business-research firm. And at a time in which many industries are in dire straits, sales in gaming are booming.
"The pandemic “really opened a lot of people’s eyes – even non-gamers – to what games can do to bring people together,”
Amazon-owned Twitch, where people watch other people play video games in live webcasts, chatting in real time with the streamer and other viewers, clocked five billion hours of viewed content in the second quarter of 2020 alone. The engagement is an 83% increase from last year. It's a new record.
Games have helped old and new players alike “keep connected, social and sane” during the pandemic. “For a long time, people have either looked down on that or called gamers ‘weird’, but now people and companies want to know how to maintain relationships and communities digitally. It's more accessible for people.”
So, although more people staring at a screen may seem like an unhealthy habit, even the World Health Organization believes it could be key in nurturing our bonds with others. Earlier this year, it launched #PlayApartTogether. As mental health professionals stress the importance of relationships, connections and community in these times, they’re even beginning to find direct psychological and social benefits from gaming across the generations.
In conclusion, we don't know when we will get through this pandemic; For the mean time, keep on trucking. The TruckersMP community is stronger than ever, an we'll always be here. This is our escape from the dangers we're currently facing. You're not alone, OTR Trucking Company is a company that has a relentless amounts of family energy. Holidays, Birthdays are spent and celebrated here, come truck with us!
Remember to leave a "breaker breaker" on the CB or a simple honk if you see us on the road , ya'll stay safe during these hard times.

If someone isn't into video games, it is easy for them to shake their head at someone that sits for 5 or 6 hours staring at a screen "not amounting to anything." They might ask, "why would you play an 18 wheeler simulation when you can go out and do the real thing?" The game isn't to make you believe you're a real truck driver, it's an escape from reality and tranquility knowing that you're going to have a great time trucking with your peers and fellow virtual company members.
Like sports, arts, entrepreneurship, or anything else that you'd like to do in life, American Truck Simulator gives us an opportunity to show everyone what we're capable of. A chance to be in a safe environment and show everyone our creative skills through truck customization and driving abilities.
We love video games, and in a way, American Truck Simulator and TruckersMP takes skill, patience, and determination. If you love this game and community, know that your love is valid. A community that is very unique for the type of game play that takes place. Many will not understand, and that's okay. Our community is unique for a reason. Everyone has their journey; We're just fortunate enough to be part of such a united community.

Don't forget to give a honk on the road if we come across down the road, and Keep the shiny side up and the greasy side down.
