Aurora's Truck Tests

Recently here at Aurora we have been trialling different truck brands to see if we like anything else other than our go-two Scanias and Volvos with some varying results. To start with most were a little opposed to changing trucks as they got used to their Scanias and Volvo and found it difficult to steer away from them and try some new trucks.

To start with we picked an older Iveco that we bought at a local auction to see what they were like as we were struggling to get a demo of one of the latest models as they seemed to be in great demand at the time which we took as positive so just put our names down for one and waited patiently to see if we could have one. With this older truck, the feedback we got initially wasn't positive as drivers were saying they didn't like the way the interior was laid due to there being too many buttons and struggled with how low the cab was. We were a little disappointed to hear this but we are hopeful about what the future brings with getting a more up-to-date truck with some of the latest features.

Secondly, we acquired a new MAN to our fleet despite this being a little surprise to most of us as we weren't expecting to get a new truck like this so soon but happily when we gave it to one of our newest drivers they liked it very much which was lovely to hear which means we are now looking at adding some MAN's to our fleet to try and diversify from or normal trucks.

We are still running some other truck brands like Mercedes and DAF to see what our drivers think and if they would be happy driving them all the time in the future. We also have an electric Renault T on the road just now to see how useful and efficient it is as we are not sure about its range and the workload it will carry out but so far it is going well with doing some local jobs around our depots.

It has been fun and quite informative trying different brands from our normal Scanias and Volvos and are excited to see what lies ahead for us with these. We have been documenting this on our X account as we picked up different trucks and began the little tests we were doing. All can be found here - https://x.com/auroravtc
