Foreword - Editor's Desk

As the first full month of proper vacation starts at At The Mile, we're elated to see our drivers coming back day in, day out, to get loads delivered to companies who rely on us most. Special shoutout to our division members - read about them and so much more in this month's edition!

Welcome to the July Recap!

I feel like if I make any other heat related jokes, I'm at risk of losing my responsibility for writing the recap...

With that in mind, let's keep it brief: At The Mile has once again delivered an outstanding month for drivers, staff, and everyone in between! From record numbers of division loads submitted, to staff changes a-plenty, to drivers continuing to haul to every corner of Europe and North America (sort of), we're excited to present to you a summary of the bulk of our work this past month - with a return of the radical statistics analysis you know and love! You already know it, but let me introduce it again - this is At The Mile's July Recap!

Driver Statistics

Every month, I hype up our drivers, and every month, they continue to blow my expectations out of the water. So, to keep with the spirit of excellence and to ride my good mojo that another month of compliments will help our drivers achieve even more, check out some of the truly breathtaking numbers from this past month (once again in fancy-pants graphical format!):

Once more, for the statistically inclined, this total distance is approximately:

  • 571 trips between Canberra and Wellington, capital zones of the two hosts of this August's Women's Worlds of Soccer, or
  • the length of 55,869,044 tennis courts, appropriate given this August's US Open, or
  • the total distance of 4312 Belgian Grands Prix, or
  • 318 trips between Fenway Park and Dodger Stadium, the farthest two stadiums on the active MLB calendar.

Now, time to wrap up everyone's favorite competition - who was the most responsible for this mileage? Drumroll please....

Congratulations to this month's top 10 on an amazing push! We're proud to see our drivers remaining the best in the industry!

Recognitions

As per our usual festivities, we would like to take a moment now to step back and appreciate the efforts of a few of our most outstanding members. With a pool as diverse and excellent as we are blessed to have, it's naturally a hard decision, but without further ado I'd like to introduce you to our Driver and Staff of the Month:

Driver of the Month - Emmi

Returning in June of this year and immediately coming out of the gate strong, Emmi has proven themselves to be an extraordinary example for our drivers to look up to. Clocking in at 4th place with over 50 thousand kilometres through July, Emmi has yet again proven that the ATM fire glows bright in our drivers - regular contributions to our community and past service on our staff team are also to be noted. All in all, Emmi has shown that you don't always need to have inhuman mileage (sorry David!) to exemplify what it means to be an ATM driver - a quality we are extremely lucky to bear witness to in our VTC!

I was here at ATM when they opened their VTC in May and met a lot of great lovely people. What keeps me here is I built some great friendships with some people and I like to drive convoys with them. This month was special to me because I wanted DOTM but I never thought I could do it and I'm proud of being DOTM for this month I worked hard for it. Being an ATM driver is like being in a big trucker family - I would shout out to Kris and SCI for attending many convoy with me that month kept me motivated to continue.

Staff of the Month - Blizzy

Blizzy has been on a rapid trajectory since moving full-time to the ATM team in April of this year - a warpath of success that has inspired and motivated those around him! Blizzy has been an active contributor to our unique success in our Human Resources department, aiding as the Human Resources Manager and now Chief Human Resources Officer by authoring plenty of internal department materials and working on many of our internal tools for automation. While his contributions are often veiled in the staff channels and chats, he has made it his goal to help the community while welcoming all those wishing to be a part of it - a key quality in a newly minted member of Leadership!

ATM has always been a second home for me, ever since I joined in an external capacity in July of 2022 as an external developer. The Leadership team has done an outstanding job curating an environment where people truly want to contribute, while not following suit of many other VTCs with malignant enforcement and control over their community. In all, ATM promotes a spirit of belonging unlike many other communities - a key factor that keeps me coming back daily. To be Staff of the Month puts a nice cherry on top of also joining as our newest Leadership officer - regardless of what capacity I may continue to serve in, HR has always been my home base. Shoutout to the entire Development Team, who bear with my awful code and even worse jokes; to the HR Department for bearing with my many 2 AM ideas, and to Shadows for giving me all these chances in the first place!

Huge congratulations to both winners, and we look forward to watching your success continue to flourish going forward!

Agricultural Continues to Bloom!

That's right, folks - your newest division has shown that it absolutely deserves its place in At The Mile Logistics! Clocking in at 317 approved loads, for nearly 9 million euros and 1 million dollars, across 302 thousand kilometres, all the while playing host to two of the top three drivers from this month, we continue to see nothing but amazing things from our seedlings over in Agricultural. Of course, it wouldn't be entirely fair to do without the normal, divisional breakdown for the month:

Hazmat - 240 approved loads, 8.8 million euros and 2.2 million dollars, 155 thousand kilometres.

Chilled - 105 approved loads, 4.6 million euros and 573 thousand dollars, 77 thousand kilometres.

Construction - 82 approved loads, 1.5 million euros and 60 thousand dollars, 60 thousand kilometres.

A big thank-you to everyone putting in the extra hours in our Special Divisions, and especially so for breaking the 700 approved load margin this month! Make sure to check out the application instructions if you're one of our drivers!

This Month and Going Forward

As we welcomed more drivers pushing our total count to 272, we are happily preparing for the end of summer and the return to all things cacophonous about school and life obligations. Shorter days, back to school commercials, and... is that an orange leaf or two in the near future? Sounds like our drivers are going to have a nice new fall landscape coming soon!

In all seriousness, ATM is in the unique position to have very little to worry about, and instead have plenty to enjoy. With more support staff coming into our Special Divisions, and some new responsibilities being doled out in preparation for our many fall events, we're working harder than ever to get three steps ahead of the game! Stay tuned to our Discord server for future updates - including the first pieces of ATM Wrapped 2023!

That's, once again, all from me this month. I know, it's a crime that you ever have to go this long without your favorite ATM recap author, right?! I can't wait to see you all next month for more information on some of our fall happenings, but for now, enjoy soaking up those dog days of summer - toodles!
