Happy new year

Hi!

First of all let's start by saying I hope you will all have a wonderful 2025 and that it may be a better year than 2024 has been.

VTC number wise it was a good year as we slowly grew beyond 20 members and became a validated VTC.

However our VTC & Community members have all experienced stuff in their lives in 2024. Some bad like health issues, troubles in their love lives, issues with work or school and let's not forget some also had mental issues. Which caused some of them to decrease their activity levels.

A lot of people also could lean on their friendship with other community members to get through difficult times and that's just a wonderful thing to see. It's awesome that you can become friends with other people from different countries (or sometimes even your own) and often with people who you would never have connected with if you had come across each other in real life.

So I wish you a happy and foremost healthy 2025!

Máni Community started in April 2022 with the goal to create a community for all ETS2 & ATS players. From the start we also created our Drive Alongs to create a relaxed and fun drive for the players who wanted them and to have an alternative for all big convoys as some people just simply enjoy smaller convoys more.

We believe that our Drive Alongs should be enjoyed with (mostly) daylight to enjoy the beautiful scenery that SCS and ProMods have created. Therefore we plan our Drive Alongs when needed at different times than regular convoys to catch the most daylight where possible.

Drive Alongs are just friendly, fun and relaxing drives that aren't too big. At times we offer unique routes that are less suitable for bigger convoys. The Drive Alongs are also done without Convoy Control. So we only use Lead & Tail Trucks to guide you the way so we highly encourage you to set your own route so you won't drive the wrong way.

We hope you enjoy this route and that you'll join us on today's journey!

Please note as some routes are slightly longer these routes may take a little over an hour.

Today's drive along:

The world is changing and extreme weather is happening more often than they used to. We've seen heavy rainfall in almost all European countries sometimes causing flooding, shifts of earths, flooded homes, buildings getting damaged, roads getting damaged, rivers overflowing the barriers which all causes massive damage and killing or injuring people and leaving the survivors often with nothing from what they've built up in their lifetime.

A couple of days ago there was another flooding in Bosnia and Herzegovina so our EM Tiro decided to virtually help the area and bring machinery from his home country Slovenia to the town of Mostar with the particular company of LowField actually being in real life in the affected area of Donja Jablanica driving over virtual roads that are no longer there in real life.

Volvo Trucks - History and usage

Hi,

In the previous blog post we talked about Scania, but now we're going to talk about the number 2 used Truck on our Drivers Hub the Volvo Truck. If we take the all time statistics the Scania Trucks are used over 3 times as often as the number two on our list which is the famous Volvo Truck.

But what is the history of the Volvo Trucks brand?

Volvo Trucks has a rich history that dates back to the early 20th century. The company has grown to become one of the largest manufacturers of heavy-duty trucks in the world, known for its commitment to safety, innovation, and sustainability. Here's a brief overview of Volvo Trucks' history:

Early Years and Formation (1920s-1930s)

1927: Volvo, the parent company of Volvo Trucks, was founded in Gothenburg, Sweden, by Assar Gabrielsson and Gustaf Larson. Originally, Volvo's focus was on manufacturing cars, but as the company expanded, it recognized the potential for the commercial vehicle market.

1928: Volvo produced its first truck, the Volvo OV 4, a model that marked the beginning of its journey into the commercial vehicle sector. The company aimed to create trucks that were as reliable and durable as its cars.

1930s: Volvo continued to refine its truck designs, with an emphasis on quality and engineering excellence. During this period, Volvo began gaining a reputation for building trucks that could handle the tough Scandinavian conditions.

Post-War Expansion and Innovation (1940s-1960s)

1940s: After World War II, Volvo focused on rebuilding and expanding its production. The company's trucks became essential in rebuilding infrastructure across Europe and Sweden, especially for heavy-duty transport and construction.

1950s: Volvo introduced several key innovations, including the development of the first fully integrated diesel engine for its trucks. This helped improve fuel efficiency and engine performance.

1960s: Volvo expanded its truck offerings and introduced more advanced features like improved safety standards and the introduction of sleeper cabs for long-haul drivers. This era also saw Volvo begin to export trucks to international markets.

Global Expansion and Acquisitions (1970s-1990s)

1970s: Volvo Trucks made significant strides in North America, entering the competitive U.S. market with models like the Volvo F10 and F12. These trucks were well-received for their durability and fuel efficiency, and Volvo began to establish a strong presence in the global market.

1980s: The company continued to innovate with new designs, including advancements in aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. In 1985, Volvo introduced the Volvo FH series, which would become one of its most successful and iconic truck families.

1990s: Volvo began acquiring other companies to strengthen its position in the global market. In 1999, Volvo acquired Renault's truck division, which included Renault Trucks, a major European player in the commercial vehicle market. This acquisition allowed Volvo to expand its reach across Europe and into new markets.

21st Century: Innovation, Sustainability, and Autonomous Vehicles (2000s-Present)

2000s: Volvo Trucks continued to refine its truck models, with an increasing focus on safety, environmental performance, and fuel efficiency. The company became one of the pioneers in integrating safety technologies, such as collision avoidance systems, lane-keeping assist, and electronic stability control.

2010s: Volvo began focusing heavily on sustainability. In 2013, Volvo launched its first electric truck prototype. The company also started developing alternative fuels like liquefied natural gas (LNG) and hydrogen fuel cells to reduce the environmental impact of its fleet.

2017: Volvo unveiled the Volvo FH16 with advancements in technology, including improved fuel efficiency and connectivity features for fleet management. This model would go on to set new standards in the long-haul trucking sector.

2020s: Volvo has continued to lead in the transition to electrification, with the launch of its fully electric truck models, such as the Volvo FL Electric and Volvo FE Electric. The company has also focused on autonomous vehicle technologies, partnering with other companies to explore the future of self-driving trucks. In 2022, Volvo Trucks launched its first autonomous truck in a commercial pilot project in a mining operation in Sweden.

Sustainability Focus: Volvo has committed to reducing the carbon footprint of its production and product lineup, with a goal of being a climate-neutral company by 2040. This includes efforts to improve the sustainability of its supply chain, use of electric and hydrogen-powered trucks, and reducing the lifecycle emissions of its vehicles.

Key Milestones and Innovations

Safety Innovations: Volvo Trucks has long been a leader in safety, pioneering features like the three-point seatbelt (developed for Volvo cars but adopted for trucks too), airbags, and various driver assistance systems. In 2000, the company introduced the Volvo Dynamic Steering system, which significantly reduces steering effort and enhances driving comfort.

Electrification and Sustainability: Volvo Trucks has committed to having 50% of its truck sales be fully electric by 2030. The company has invested in electric truck technology, including the Volvo VNR Electric for North America, and is working to make sustainable transportation solutions mainstream in the logistics and freight sectors.

Autonomous Technology: Volvo Trucks is also a key player in the development of autonomous vehicle technology for the trucking industry. Through collaborations and pilot projects, Volvo is testing autonomous trucks designed for specific applications, such as mining and port operations.

Volvo Trucks Today

Today, Volvo Trucks operates in over 190 markets worldwide, and its range includes models designed for various industries, including long-haul transport, construction, and distribution. The company's commitment to safety, environmental sustainability, and technological innovation continues to drive its success in a rapidly changing global market.

Volvo Trucks is part of the Volvo Group, which also includes Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Penta (marine and industrial engines), and other subsidiaries. While Volvo Trucks remains a leader in the global truck market, it continues to evolve to meet the challenges of a more sustainable and automated future for transportation.

Conclusion

Volvo Trucks' history is a story of innovation, expansion, and a commitment to quality and safety. From its early days in Sweden to becoming a global leader in the truck industry, Volvo Trucks has continuously pushed the boundaries of technology, safety, and sustainability. Today, it is at the forefront of the transition to electric and autonomous commercial vehicles, positioning itself as a major player in the future of transportation.

The Aluminum Run: A Trucker's Heroic Journey

The Aluminum Run: A Trucker's Heroic Journey

The sun had just dipped below the horizon as the convoy of big rigs rumbled out of Spokane, Washington, each driver with a mission in mind. Their cargo? Aluminum profiles—sleek, lightweight, and sturdy. The destination? Bralorne, a remote mining town tucked away in the wilds of British Columbia. A place where most folks didn’t dare venture unless they had a reason. But for these truckers, it was just another day on the road, another challenge to face.

At the front of the pack was Purrie, a seasoned trucker with years of experience behind the wheel. He was the kind of man who knew how to navigate both the wide open highways and treacherous mountain passes. The aluminum profiles they were hauling were destined for a crucial infrastructure project in Bralorne, vital for the local community, and the pressure was on to make sure it arrived on time.

Behind him, there was the steady hum of engines. Tiro_k, a determined and fearless driver, was right on his tail. He wasn’t just known for his speed; it was his precision that made him a legend. Then came Gali "Banana", a quiet man with a heart of gold, and a veteran driver who had seen it all, from blizzards to wildfires. Together, they formed an unbreakable convoy.

The route from Spokane to Bralorne was no easy feat. The mountain roads twisted through dense forests, with hairpin turns that required skill and concentration. The drivers had to endure sleepless nights, icy weather, and sudden storms. But they weren’t fazed. They knew they were hauling something that could change lives—the aluminum profiles would help rebuild homes, roads, and schools for the people of Bralorne.

As they crossed into Canada, the convoy encountered trouble. A storm system rolled in unexpectedly, turning the roads into a slick, icy nightmare. Visibility dropped to almost nothing. But Purrie knew what he had to do. He spoke over the CB radio, his deep voice crackling through the static.

“Alright, folks, we’re in this together. Stay close, keep your lights on, and let’s push through.”

Tiro, and Galitititi tightened their grip on the wheel. They’d faced worse, but this storm was something else. The snow was coming down hard, and soon, the road was barely visible beneath a thick layer of white.

Hours passed, the storm relentless. But together, they kept pushing on. They helped each other, radioing updates and warnings, making sure no one was left behind. Through snow and sleet, the convoy pressed forward, determined to deliver the goods.

Finally, as dawn broke, the trucks crested the final mountain pass and saw the town of Bralorne nestled in the valley below. The storm had cleared, leaving a pristine landscape of white-tipped peaks and shimmering roads. They had made it.

The people of Bralorne gathered to greet the convoy, cheering as the trucks rolled in. The aluminum profiles would be put to use immediately, and the project would soon be underway. But for the truckers, it was the journey itself that mattered—the teamwork, the grit, and the drive to make sure the job was done right.

Purrie looked out over the convoy, a rare smile on his face. “Well, folks, we did it.”

And with that, the truckers knew they had made a difference. They weren’t just hauling aluminum—they were hauling hope.

In the last news item we talked about a Drive With Tiro where the challenge was driving with either triple trailers or with a HCT trailer through Finland.

Even despite the short notice the event was well visited and surprisingly enough nobody got stuck!

We intend to do more themed drives like this in the future.

Hi,

It may come as a surprise but MAN is actually on our DriversHub the 3th moth used brand! So let's dive a bit deeper into the history of MAN Trucks & Bus.

MAN Truck & Bus, commonly known as MAN Trucks, is a prominent European commercial vehicle manufacturer with a rich history dating back over a century. Here is an overview of the company's history:

Early Beginnings

1758: The origins of MAN can be traced back to the establishment of the "St. Antony" ironworks in Oberhausen, Germany, which later became the Gutehoffnungshütte (GHH) group.

1840: The company SÜDDEUTSCHE Maschinenfabrik is founded in Augsburg, Germany.

1893: The Maschinenfabrik Augsburg and the Maschinenbau-AG Nürnberg merge to form Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg AG, or M.A.N.

Expansion and Innovation

Early 20th Century: MAN begins producing trucks and buses, expanding its product range beyond industrial equipment.

1915: MAN produces its first truck, the MAN Saurer, in collaboration with the Swiss company Saurer.

1924: MAN introduces the first diesel-powered truck, marking a significant milestone in the commercial vehicle industry.

Post-War Growth

1950s-1960s: MAN continues to innovate, introducing new models and technologies. The company becomes a major player in the European commercial vehicle market.

1971: MAN merges with Büssing AG, another German truck manufacturer, further strengthening its position in the market.

Modern Era

1986: MAN acquires the commercial vehicle division of GHH, consolidating its operations under the MAN AG umbrella.

2000: MAN acquires several other companies, including NEOPLAN Bus GmbH, a leading bus manufacturer, and STAR Trucks & Buses in Poland.

2006: MAN acquires the Brazilian truck manufacturer Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus, expanding its global footprint.

2011: MAN becomes a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, integrating into the Volkswagen Group's commercial vehicle division.

Recent Developments

2010s-Present: MAN continues to focus on innovation, sustainability, and digitalization. The company has introduced electric and hybrid vehicles, as well as advanced driver assistance systems and connectivity solutions.

Hi,

Our drivers were chartered to haul heavy forest equipment from the USA to Lillooet in Canada. We had to make some detours to get to our destination but in the end we managed to get there with all equipment in one peace or did perhaps one of us took a corner a bit too fast?

Our faithful drivers managed to deliver a stumper, a forwarder and a skidder to the customer.

Hi,

We've participated in quite a few convoys again in the last month! And we have a steady base of drivers who like convoys including participating in convoys we did not sign up for just because they like to drive them. And as previously stated we only recommend some events, but nobody is obliged to follow those suggestions. All of our members are free to join any events they like.

The convoys we participated in June where for instance:

Prime Logistics

Aurora

Golden Phoenix Express

Ghost Express

Cool Convoys

Himalayan Logistics

Pean Logistics

and many others. Thank you for organizing these events for the community just like we organize our very own Drive Alongs!

Looking to expand our management team!

Hi there!

Máni VTC already exists over 2.5 years and we have been a validated VTC for over a year now. So that is an awesome result that our current managers as well as our drivers have put in.

Almost all VTC's aim for that family feeling and that's great as who wouldn't want to be part of a big family. At Máni VTC we don't aim to be family though, we aim for a relaxed VTC where nothing needs to be done, but we allow you to do a lot! And if you find friends within our VTC we're happy, if we allow you to be you we're extremely happy.

But running a VTC that has almost no requirements still takes some time. We don't make a big hassle of things but still, things need to get done.

So to be able to keep our VTC running we're searching for people who want to work with us:

Event Manager to (co-) run our Drive Alongs, plan routes, ensure we've got event team members showing up and checking events our drivers should go to.

Human Resources/Recruitment. This one is obvious I guess. You'll be leading the HR department, so our hires, people who are leaving, and recruiting new people.

So are you interested? Reach out to us!

Scania Trucks - History and usage

Hi There!

In the TruckersMP community Scania trucks are widely used, in fact on our DriversHub if you add up all the other different brands from ETS2 & ATS you still won't reach the number of how many times the Scania is used to haul jobs.

But what is the history of Scania?

Scania Trucks has a rich history that dates back to the late 19th century.

Here’s a brief overview of its development:

Early Years

1891: Scania was founded as a mechanical workshop in Malmö, Sweden, by a group of industrialists. Initially, it produced bicycles and later expanded to manufacturing components for other vehicles.
1900: The company merged with the Vabis factory, which specialized in producing horse-drawn carriages and, later, automobiles, creating Scania-Vabis.

Growth and Innovations

1911: Scania-Vabis produced its first truck, marking its entry into the commercial vehicle market.
1936: The introduction of the first V8 engine set Scania apart, showcasing its focus on power and performance.

Post-War Expansion

1950s-1960s: Scania expanded significantly, establishing a reputation for high-quality trucks and buses. It also began exporting to international markets.
1969: Scania-Vabis merged with another Swedish company, Saab, to form Saab-Scania, further strengthening its position.

Modern Era

1980s-1990s: The company focused on innovation, introducing new models and technologies. Scania became known for its fuel-efficient engines and advanced safety features.
2000s: Scania continued to expand globally, emphasizing sustainability and developing environmentally friendly vehicles.

Recent Developments

2014: Volkswagen AG became a major shareholder, integrating Scania into a broader automotive group.
Present: Scania remains a leader in the commercial vehicle industry, focusing on electric and autonomous vehicles while maintaining its commitment to performance and sustainability.

Legacy

Scania is renowned for its engineering excellence, strong customer relationships, and a diverse range of vehicles, including trucks, buses, and industrial engines. Its focus on innovation continues to shape the future of transportation.

TruckersMP and VTCs: A Community-Driven Experience in Virtual Trucking

TruckersMP is a popular multiplayer modification for Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS2) and American Truck Simulator (ATS), two truck driving simulators developed by SCS Software. This mod transforms the otherwise single-player experience into a vibrant online world where thousands of players from across the globe can drive together, follow real-world traffic rules, and engage in various community activities. One of the key features that emerged from this multiplayer environment is the concept of Virtual Trucking Companies, or VTCs.

A Virtual Trucking Company functions similarly to a real-world logistics firm but operates entirely within the simulation. Players join or create VTCs to simulate the experience of working in a company, organizing convoys, delivering cargo, and adhering to schedules. Each VTC often has its own management team, internal rules, and even custom liveries for trucks and trailers. Some VTCs go even further by tracking deliveries via third-party systems like a tracker such as UniTracker, keeping detailed logs of members’ jobs and performance.

The community aspect of VTCs is one of their most appealing features. Drivers often communicate via Discord, fostering teamwork and camaraderie. Scheduled convoys, usually held weekly or monthly, are major highlights. These events bring VTCs together for long-distance hauls across the in-game map, often coordinated with event team members and streaming support. Some convoys even take the form of charity events or competitions, raising money for real-world causes or simply celebrating milestones within the community.

TruckersMP itself provides the infrastructure and moderation that enables these experiences. With dedicated servers, strict rule enforcement, and frequent updates, the platform ensures a stable and relatively realistic driving environment. TruckersMP staff monitor the servers to enforce traffic laws and community guidelines, creating an immersive and respectful atmosphere for all users.

For many players, joining a VTC offers a deeper sense of purpose beyond casual driving. It adds a social layer and encourages skill development in areas like communication, time management, and even graphic design or event planning. VTCs come in all shapes and sizes—from small, tight-knit groups to large, professional-style operations with hundreds of members and intricate ranking systems.

TruckersMP has also introduced features that directly support VTCs, such as the official VTC system on its website. This allows companies to showcase their brand, recruit new members, and display achievements. The VTC system gives credibility to well-organized groups and makes it easier for newcomers to find companies that align with their play style and goals.

In conclusion, TruckersMP and VTCs together create a rich and dynamic ecosystem within the world of virtual trucking. What begins as a simple drive from one city to another can quickly evolve into a collaborative, engaging experience filled with teamwork, logistics, and social connection. Whether you're a casual driver or a simulation enthusiast, there's a place for you in the world of virtual trucking.

New departure time of our Drive Alongs

Hello,

Since forever we've been known to start our drive alongs at 19:00 CEST / CET. This basically is 1 hour earlier most convoys have their departure times. This was done to use a maximum of daylight possible in TruckersMP.

And for a long time this was fine as TruckersMP did barely change the time on the servers so unless you installed for instance the Grimes winter mod you would have daylight for the most part of our Drive Along.

But this is no longer as the time has slightly changed we currently experience that (without the use of mods) the most daylight we have is if we start one hour later. So for the time being we'll experiment with departing at 20:00 CEST / 20:00 CET (18:00 UTC / 19:00 UTC)

Our next Drive Along is this thursday at the new time!

Hi there!

We've been organizing convoys for a long time now. We first started doing weekly convoys with a full blown event team and everything. But doing this was putting a strain on everyone including our wonderful event team.

So we decided to step down a bit and organize drive alongs. Planned ones (currently twice a month) but also unplanned ones just because we feel like doing one or there is no other good event going on that day/time. Without an event team, just lead, co-lead and tail. And driving wherever we would like to, because if you don't use an event team and don't aim for a big attendees you can travel more and different roads that aren't suitable for bigger events.

So we do hope you tag along at some of our Drive Alongs!

Máni VTC 2 year anniversary Drive Along

Hi,

Technically it wasn't our level up day just yet (it's on the 19th) but our drivers voted to have our anniversary Drive Along on the 12th. A 3000+km journey awaited for the diehards driving from Munich (Germany) to Kalamata (Greece).

We split the 3000km journey in 3 parts. Route 1 went from Munich to Banja Luka over the Großglockner mountain road, through Hungary and ended in Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Route 2 went from Banja Luka to Tirana. We passed many beautiful roads and a whole lot of border controls (#BlameBalkans). We even had some time to spare at the end so we took a little detour over some secret roads in Tirana

And route 3 went from Tirana into Greece to the olive farm in Kalamata.

Thanks to all the participants who have joined, even if it was just for a part of the route, and a big shout out to the people who joined all the routes. 1 participant even decides to buy Greece DLC last minute to be able to join route 3 as well. We've had people from all over the world including Europe, from the USA who got up early, and people from Australia where the night started to fall.

See you next time!
