TruckersMP Official Convoy Recap!

Another big event in the start of this years Trucking calendar, and one again S.PLH did not disappoint!

Following on from the success's of last weekend's TruckersFM convoy, this week's Sunday convoys took us over the water to American Truck Simulator for another large community event, the first official TruckersMP convoy of the year.

We began however, in Colorado Springs, with a little time to spare before the start of the day's official event, we planned a bit of an ambitious trip, from Colorado Springs (Colorado) to Salmon (Idaho), with a custom, round trip kind of route, taking in the lesser traveled outer edges of the latest expansion, Colorado, before heading north towards Idaho.

Gathering in the Colorado service station having collected a variety of cargos, including heavy hauls and box trailers, we were joined by none other than mister Prime himself, as well as some members we hadn't seen in a while. The scenic route we had chosen gave us some nice views as we toured Colorado, with Valancea, our convoy leader, keeping good pace as the miles drifted by.

Unfortunately as time went on, it became clear we would not make it to our destination of Salmon, before the start of the TruckersMP event, so our original journey was cut short in a gas station near Provo (Utah).

Taking the opportunity to refuel however, we then hightailed it over to Las Vegas, NV, the start point of the official event of the day. For our meetup there, the Voltison Motors on the east of the city had been selected, an unfortunately cramped industry that caused some of our member's concern, this later however proved to be a wise move, as its location gave us a good entry into the convoy procession, with a smooth leave that put us roughly in the middle of proceedings.

Our truckers looked magnificent once again in our livery, and despite the smooth leave putting us surprisingly near the front of the approx. 700 trucker strong convoy, the beginning of the trip was very start stop, with many hill starts and sudden stabs of brakes, eventually though this gave way to smoother driving as the event rolled on, and eventually the nights seemingly perpetual darkness gave way to daylight as the convoy neared its end point, the large NAMIQ mining and quarrying operation to the west of Raton (Colorado).

Ready for one last trip to Durango!

Once the last of our drivers had arrived in the city, we took the opportunity to take a well deserved rest break, and gathered together near the city's service station to join Pepper in the final route to his drop off in Durango. This gave a a chance to squeeze one more load in for the day, and to take another more scenic and twisty route through Colorado landscape to end another classic day of trucking.
