Hey everyone
Over the past several months Phoenix has been experiencing difficulties behind the scenes. The main set of challenges arose following the disruptive departure of our former co-founder and lead developer Diego. Whilst it would be unfair to go into the full details of their departure and the events that took place, it left the existing management and development teams effectively locked out from further developing, or maintaining the PhoenixBase and its associated infrastructure.
During the five months since this took place, the state of our PhoenixBase has continued to decline with many important features both front end and back end failing. Alongside this, issues have been discovered with the way the system was originally created. Whilst initial plans to create a new replacement PhoenixBase were created early on, an unfortunate set of circumstances and other priorities within the management team has meant the planning and development of this has been slower than we would have liked.
Taking into account what we have written above, we have come to the incredibly difficult conclusion that the affect on our staff team and members means we have reached a point where the continuation of Phoenix as a VTC is no longer possible. As much love as we have for Phoenix, we recognise that all three members of management have other commitments within the community, and the time it takes to run a VTC to the high standard and rectify these issues to the level we expect is just no longer available.
It is with deep regret that we have to announce that Phoenix will be closing as a VTC on Monday 12th September 2022 at 8:00PM BST.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all current and former staff and members for their unwavering commitment to Phoenix during our existence, the past success of Phoenix wouldn’t have been possible without you all. As an additional note from myself, I would like to give a massive thank you to both Andy and Velo. I am so lucky to get to work with these amazing guys each day, and the work that they have put in has been nothing short of incredible.
Ultimately, our intentions in running this VTC were to create a fun experience for the community, that provided a high quality atmosphere and most of all, was enjoyable for all of those involved. That includes all the staff members who have spent countless hours, often unseen and behind the scenes. Since our launch in 2020, we have had some incredible achievements and moments within Phoenix. From being verified on TruckersMP in less than a year, to hosting some of the most professional events found on TruckersMP, it’s been a fantastic journey.
However, all good things must come to an end, and it is now that we feel this is most appropriate. Whilst this may be the end of Phoenix, all of us in the management team are still very much passionate about the TruckersMP community and VTCs in general. We’ll still all be around, just focussing on other things from now on.
So, what happens next?
Whilst we will be closing as a VTC from Monday, the Discord server will remain online and be reformatted into a non-VTC community for you all to remain a part of if you wish to. The community has been at the heart of Phoenix since we were first founded, and we hope some aspect of that that can that can remain, albeit in a different form.
We will be holding a public farewell convoy on Tuesday 11th October. We would love to see as many of you there as possible! You can sign up to attend that event by clicking here
Best wishes for your future endeavours - we hope to see you out on the roads of TruckersMP
