Day 4 The fourth day of driving was the start of our largest leg of the journey on ETS2, we started at Dover port, and we then headed north, across the UK, sadly however, it was a little bit boring as the UK has not been updated since the games launch almost 8 years ago and there wasn't much to see, after an hour or so we made it to Portsmouth where we then boarded the first boat of our trip, this took us to Roscoff where we had a small break, after this break we headed south through France, in my opinion this part was also boring as it was dark and there wasn’t a whole lot to see on the route, but as daylight broke we were heading east along the south of France and this looked very picturesque, we then crossed the border into Italy and proceeded to head south, not much happened in Italy either, cruise control on, occasionally slowing down for toll booths and we continued all the way then to Sicily and then into Sardinia, I loved the tight and twist roads around Sardinia and racing around them with Zero was pretty nice too!! We crossed to Corsica and finished up at the port ready for the next day.
Day 5 Day 5 started in Ajaccio in Corsica, we looped around the island, then completed Sardinia and returned to Sicily, headed south around it and crossed back to the mainland of Europe, we then headed up the Eastern side of Italy, which was somewhere I haven’t ever been as I had only discovered the roads then and I was in for a surprise, it had some amazing views, I hope to return someday soon. After another hour or so we had entered into Austria, then we continued through it to Hungary, this part was on more twisty roads but I still had my cruise control on at 68MPH until we hit the border with Romania, the new border crossings in the Black Sea DLC are very interesting, I did get a little stuck when the barrier decided not to open but eventually it did and we could enter into Romania, it was an interesting drive with some nice views but it wasn't very long until we had entered Bulgaria, it was hard to judge what Bulgaria was like as it was always dark when we were there, but we parked up for the night in Plovdiv.
Day 6 Day 6 started in Plovdiv in the dead of night, we started earlier to get a head start and make up ground that we didn’t get covered in the first two days, we entered into Turkey shortly after departure and it was very interesting as the borders were very complex and featured things I never have seen before in ETS2 such as X-Ray machines, I really liked it - I will visit Turkey again very soon as it has been ages since I have been, we looped around Istanbul and exited Turkey not long after - I didn't get to see much as it was dark still but as we entered back into Bulgaria it became day and it was amazing on the coast of Bulgaria and back again into Romania, the Romania leg was interesting on the return as I finally got to experience the boat travelling across the map, however on TruckersMP it is actually invisible so I didn’t get to see anything! About 30 minutes later we were entering into Hungary once again and continued north, into Slovakia and into Poland, on roads I used before in the 2017 edition of this convoy but this time it somehow felt quicker, before we knew it, we had entered into Lithuania and continued further north into Latvia and then into Russia, I always enjoy a good drive through Russia - especially if I get to drive into Finland after and guess what happened next? We entered into Finland, we did a loop around there with no issues once again and headed back towards Russia, after a drive over the dyke in St Petersburg, we headed west towards Estonia, soon we had left Russia and entered into Estonia, not much happened here, again I love driving across the Baltic’s in ETS2, it didn't feel long driving from Estonia to Latvia to Lithuania and into Kaliningrad, but soon we were back into Poland, I knew my truck was needing fuel so i filled it up in the last fuel station before we hot Germany as I knew I could save myself a lot of money! We soon entered Germany, I like what SCS have done with the rebuilt Germany, it is just a shame though they haven’t included a full 1:1 version of the Nürburgring Nordschleife into the game yet though!! A short drive once again across north Germany lead us into Denmark, we didn’t stay long once again and crossed into Sweden and finished up for the day in Trelleborg, this was by far our longest drive we had done yet!!
Day 7 The final day of driving was very relaxed, we started in Trelleborg, headed north around Swedens coast, passed the Scania factory, and continued towards one of my personal favourite ports of Kapellskär, this port is just beautiful!! We didn’t stay for long and continued west, across the north of Sweden and then into Norway, I love the roads around Norway as they are very tight and twisty, but we sadly were not there for very long as we had re-entered Sweden and then headed south, having a break at the Volvo factory, then we headed back into Denmark again, did a loop around the north and headed back into Germany once again, we then drove across the Netherlands, another country I quite like in the game, the dyke is a very picturesque part of the map, we then stopped in Amsterdam for another break before we had to face the one part of the trip I wasn’t looking forward to, we had to go down one section of the Duisburg - Calais road, luckily that section was only the part from the Brussels junction to Calais but it had to be done, I personally hate and avoid that road at all costs and for me in particular I have a right hand drive truck in a left hand drive country, so I had some of the people who were with me to be spotters for overtakers behind me whilst I did spotting of oncoming traffic, thankfully it paid off and we entered Calais without any issue, we entered into Calais port and boarded our final boat, once we landed back in the UK we drove off the boat and parked in the parking area that we had started in but once we arrived I couldn’t believe it... we had just completed the largest convoy in Quantum’s history, smashing the previous record set, even though I set it a month before we opened our doors!! We had driven 3 times the distance as before, this was helped by ATS and the other 5 games, but without those we nearly doubled the distance from before!!
Will we ever do this convoy ever again? Probably When will we do it again? Who knows
But when the time comes, are you ready to make Quantum history?
Thank you for reading through these past two news posts on our PETA Convoy, if you are wondering it isn't named after the animal charity, it is actually a mathematical measure of unit, one above TERA. If you like these stories pleas let me know and we can do more of them!!
