This article provides a step by step guide on how to enable or disable Two-Factor-Authentication (2FA).

What is Two-Factor-Authentication (2FA)?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a way to have an extra safe TruckersMP account. 2FA provides an extra layer of protection, as you will have to fill in a code received from another device when logging in, instead of directly getting access to your account when filling in a password.

Enabling 2FA

Enabling 2FA is pretty simple, but to do so, you must have an authenticator application on, for example, your smartphone.

There are multiple different authentication applications available. We recommend that you find one that is the most suitable for you.

To enable 2FA, follow this step-by-step guide:

  1. Sign in to your TruckersMP account on the website.
  2. Hover over the Account tab.
  3. Click on Settings.
  4. Select the 4th tab which is called Account Settings.
  5. Under Two Factor Authentication, you will see the button Enable Two Factor Authentication, click on it.
  6. Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code that you can see on the screen.

If you followed the steps given carefully, the 2FA should be set up on your TruckersMP profile now.

However, as soon as you activated the 2FA, backup codes should have appeared on your screen.

Make sure that you copy or screenshot the backup codes. This is a very important step, as you will need them if you are unable to log in to your authentication application for some reason.

Disabling 2FA (with access to your authenticator application)

To disable 2FA, with access to your authenticator application, follow this step-by-guide:

  1. Sign in to your TruckersMP account on the website.
  2. Hover over the Account tab.
  3. Click on "Settings".
  4. Select the 4th tab which is called Account Settings.
  5. Under Two Factor Authentication, you will be able to see the button Manage Two Factor Authentication, click on it.
  6. Now, you should have ended up at this location. If you scroll down a bit, you should be able to review your backup codes. When you scroll down a bit more, you should be able to disable the 2FA.

Please note: When removing the two-factor authentication from your TruckersMP profile, you still need the application to insert the final code as a confirmation to remove it.

Disabling 2FA (without access to your authenticator application)

If you're unable to see your backup codes and you don't have access to the authenticator application any longer, you should create a support ticket and explain the situation.

Through the link, you will be able to login and create a support ticket through your steam account. If this does not work, try using an incognito window in your browser.
