Commemorating Our Team's Third Anniversary Celebration

  • The mileage on the dashboard has quietly accumulated, and the melodies on the radio have changed one after another. When the calendar on the warehouse wall turned to its third year, we finally ushered in the third anniversary of our team. The early morning sun streamed through the tall glass windows of the garage, flowing over a dozen shiny trucks. The team emblem "Galloping Across Europe" on the front of the trucks was particularly eye-catching in the light - this was an exclusive celebration for us truck drivers, with a unique smell of engine oil mixed with laughter in the air.

  • To make this day more meaningful, we had log planned a unique time trial. The race track was chosen as the classic Calais Trail, a 150-kilometer road connecting the Port of Calais and the inland industrial zone, but it was full of countless driving challenges. Unlike the wide and smooth highways, it was more like a silver belt polished by time, sometimes winding through dense oak forests, sometimes snaking along the cliffs of the English Channel. The narrowest sections even required two vehicles to carefully pass each other, making it an excellent testing ground for "fast and steady" driving.

  • The most thrilling moment of the race was when passing through the continuous curves of the White Cliffs section. Just outside the road shoulder was a cliff hundreds of meters deep. The salty sea breeze, carrying fine sand, hit the car windows, and fog surged between the sea surface and the cliffs, making the vision alternate between light and dark. The steering wheel trembled in the palm of the hand, and every turn was like dancing on the edge of a cliff, allowing no slightest mistake.

  • When the red numbers on the electronic timer in front of the finish line jumped to the last second, the deafening roar of engines and the rising cheers instantly broke through the roof of the race venue. A truck with the team's paint job shot past the finish line like an arrow off the string, accurately crossing the line - a young face popped out of the driver's seat with a bright smile. It was the team member who had just joined half a year ago, often teased as a "newcomer to the race track". At this moment, he held high the golden wrench symbolizing glory and waved to the spectators in the stands.

  • As the sun set, we parked the trucks side by side in the parking lot of the Port of Calais, opened the beer and sausages in the trunks. The trophy shone in the twilight, and the mud spots on the truck bodies, which hadn't been cleaned yet, looked like medals.

  • Actually, winning or losing isn't important. What matters is that over these three years, we've checked in with each other on the same walkie-talkie channel, shared sandwiches at the same service areas, and escorted each other through the same snowstorms. Just like today on the Calais Trail, no one forgot to keep a safe distance from their teammates." The lights of the distant port gradually lit up, reflecting with the stars on the sea. I suddenly realized that what we were celebrating was never the passage of time, but that in those days behind the steering wheel, we had become the most reliable companions for each other - just as the Calais Trail always requires caution and tacit understanding, our team will always need such side-by-side progress.
