ETS 2's First Electric Tow Truck Renault Trucks E-Tech T Released!
Thanks to the close cooperation of SCS Software and Renault Trucks, Euro Truck Simulator 2's first electric tow truck, Renault Trucks E-Tech T, has been updated. You can install the highly anticipated electric tow truck for free.
In a special broadcast on the evening of 9 April at the factory in Lyon, France, together with SCS, both the Diamond Echo design with LumiLor technology paintwork made for the real vehicle and the in-game version in ETS 2 were presented. In Autumn 2023, a design competition was held among selected influencers. The groundbreaking paint design for the Renault Trucks E-Tech T is the first time LumiLor technology, a state-of-the-art method of illuminating layers of colour on any surface with tiny pulses of electricity, has been applied to a tractor trailer. SCS chose the Diamond Echo and Lightinin Bolt designs from among the Diamond Echo and Lightinin Bolt designs through a community vote. The E-Tech T tractor was then sent to LumiLor laboratories near Dresden for painting.
On the evening of 9 April, Renault Trucks' headquarters in Lyon hosted a special broadcast to present this amazing Diamond Echo design applied to the real vehicle. Prior to this, it had already been on display under blue cover in front of the Renault Trucks showrooms in ETS 2. Bruno Blin, President of Renault Trucks, Paul Daintree, Design Director, and Vincent Froidevaux, Design Manager, took part in this special broadcast. LumiLor, a very special colouring technology, was used to create a beautiful design for this all-electric tractor. Renault Trucks E-Tech T has powerful 490kWh batteries that allow it to travel up to 500 kilometres on a single charge when using a DC (direct current) charger during a one-hour break. Equipped with a 12-speed Optidriver gearbox on a 4×2 chassis, the vehicle offers a flawless driving experience. It has a 44 tonne gross combination weight (GCW). The battery cells are supplied by Samsung SDI. The batteries can be fully charged up to 43 kW with alternating current (AC) or up to 250 kW with direct current (DC). These trucks have a range of up to 300 km on a single charge and up to 500 km on a one-hour intermediate fast charge (250 kW).
The E-Tech T will initially only be available on the Single Job screen in ETS 2. The transition to electric vehicles brings some challenges in the virtual world as well as in the real world. Petrol stations designed for conventionally fuelled vehicles cannot be easily converted into electric charging stations without major modifications. But the SCS team is determined to promote electrification in their games despite all the challenges, and integrating more EV tow trucks, making them fully customisable, accessible is one of their goals. It will take time for them to overcome the complexities in game development.
In the quick job screen, you can use it for deliveries limited to 300 km.
After installing the free update, the Renault Trucks E-Tech T vehicle appears in cargo deliveries on the Quick Job screen. It will appear as the jobs are renewed. In addition, a mod to purchase the E-Tech T tractor has also been released on the Steam Workshop. With such mods, you can add the vehicle to your fleet. Of course, since it is electric, when the battery runs out, you will fill the battery by requesting help with F7. Various mods can also be released for this.
