So, Marseille. Marseille remains an exceptionally interesting city precisely from a tourist point of view. Forest of masts of the Old Port, two forts that guard the exit, neo-Byzantine hulks of the cathedral and Notre Dame de la Garde basilica, narrow streets of the historic center and spacious avenues with large-scale buildings of the Second Empire - Marseille is impressive despite its reputation. Marseille holds the lead in the country in the number of crimes in general and murders in particular. The "Marseille barbecue" is the name given by the tabloid press to the skeleton-burned corpses with bullet heads that are still periodically found in the city. Violence has been part of its ethos for decades, and even if a tourist has little chance of getting into shootouts and other gang warfare, it doesn't make you feel any freer on the streets. But even in the center it is hard to relax. Do not take out your smartphone, do not make calls, use a paper card, do not wear expensive jewelry and watches, hide money in the most remote places, do not carry bags in the dark, and better not to walk in the evenings - the list of recommendations for tourists seems endless and rather like the requirements for visitors of Latin American metropolises. Only this is happening in Europe, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, and this is the case when it is better to be reinsured... However, the next point of our #Morgenstern event will be Rome, Italy. Rome is the capital of Italy, the Eternal City, one of the oldest cities in the world and the ancient capital of the Roman Empire. It is one of those cities that you just can not miss at least once in your life. Rome is located on the west of the central part of the so-called "Italian boot" - the Apennine Peninsula, near the place where the Tiber river flows into the Tyrrhenian Sea. This river divides the city into two parts. The historic center of Rome stands on seven hills: Aventine, Capitol, Caelius, Palatine, Quirinal, Viminal, and Esquilinus, which range in height from 13 to 139 meters above sea level. Today Rome is the most important transport hub, financial, commercial and industrial center of Italy. Industrial complexes occupy areas mostly in the south and east of the city, including such industries as electronics, book publishing, chemicals, telephones, textiles and food. The city is also the recognized capital of international fashion and national cinema... Anyway, all the rest of the information is already available on our website.
