There has been a lot of confusion around the evidence and what is accepted as valid evidence and what we look for when users report on our website. This is something that you can refer to as to how to make your reports count and have a much higher chance of being accepted. Reports are handled first in, first out (FIFO). That means older reports are going to be processed before newer reports. Please be patient as our report numbers do fluctuate and turnaround times can vary. Asking staff to review your report will not be tolerated.
Please note that these are just guidelines and not rules. To view the rules, please refer to §1.4, here. If something happens that goes against these guidelines, it does not necessarily make the report incorrect.
What sort of evidence should I be providing?
We require video evidence for almost every offence. When providing us with evidence, it must be recorded by you. This means you cannot clip another user's stream or video and place a report with it. Evidence cannot be cropped, retouched, or blurred in any way. Videos can only be cropped for time by filtering out any irrelevant content to the incident at hand. Also, videos longer than 2 minutes must contain a timestamp of where the incident occurred in the video. For video evidence, we need to clearly see the user's name and ID. Therefore, videos need to be recorded in a high enough quality that usernames and in-game ID's can be clearly readable.
Offences that require video evidence are as followed:
Offences that can have photo evidence include:
If you do not see an offence here, you are best to have video evidence as video evidence is always preferred and is more likely to be accepted rather than photo evidence. (Please note that all offences listed here may not always result in a ban. These are just examples of offences that would require video evidence.) Also, please keep in mind that some rules that apply to the Simulation Servers do not apply to the Arcade Servers. You can read the differences using the link below.
What is "/pinfo" and does it have to be in my evidence?
The command /pinfo [ID]
is a command that shows a users TruckersMP & Steam ID when you enter in a user's in-game ID. This command is especially useful for identifying users in large crowds or when there are users with similar names. When reporting a user, it is not mandatory to have this command in the evidence or as a separate screenshot attached to the report, but it is highly recommended you attach it as it confirms the user you are reporting is the user who is featured in the video. If the user quit the game before you were able to do the command, do not worry, you can still submit your report, but there is a chance that you may get the wrong ID in reporting the user, which means your report may be declined.
How long should my video evidence be?
When looking at lengths of video evidence, we look for evidence that is between 15 seconds to 1 minute for a report of a user. A video shorter than 5 seconds can be classified as insufficient evidence as it may not show enough of the situation to make a conclusion as to what user is at fault. If your video evidence is longer than 1 minute 30 seconds, we would like to have timestamps included in the report comment as to what time the offences occur. Reports without the timestamp may be rejected to having too longer evidence.
What website should I use to upload my evidence to?
There are 3 main sites where we prefer users to upload their videos. YouTube Streamable and Vimeo are the most frequently used sites. For images, Imgur and Lightshot are acceptable. Depending on where you live however, sometimes you may not have access to these sites. Alternative sites like DailyMotion, VidMe, and Google Drive are all acceptable as well. If you can use one of the other sites mentioned above, we would prefer you to use those. Please note that we do not download evidence. Any site that requires us to download evidence will have the report automatically declined as downloading evidence is a security risk.
What if I need to report multiple users?
If you need to report multiple users either with a single video or multiple videos, please make 1 report per player. This will ensure that your reports are handled accurately and efficiently. Remember to add timestamps too if your video contains multiple incidents that you were involved in.
How long does my evidence have to be available for?
Your evidence must be available for at least 1 month after the ban expires. So, if a user you reported is banned and the ban expires on the 1st of January, your evidence must be available for viewing until the 1st of February. If your evidence is not available for this length, the ban can be removed from the user’s profile and they may be unbanned depending on when the evidence is removed. This is also the reason why you should not use evidence of other people as you cannot ensure that they are available for the required duration. Furthermore, it is copyright infringement if you use somebody else's content for different purposes without their consent. For more information, see §1.4 of our rules which contains detailed requirements regarding the reporting of users.
What if I want to report a member of the TMP staff?
If you wish to file a report against a member of the TMP team, you must do so using our Feedback System. There you can provide a description and any relevant evidence that you may have.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I made a report, why hasn't it been dealt with yet?
A: At times, our queue can get pretty big which will delay response time. But do not worry because every report will get dealt with eventually, no report goes unchecked.
Q. If my report is declined, will my report rating (the number of reports I can file) be reduced?
A: Not necessarily. The way your report is being rated depends on the quality of the report, not the result of the report. There are various reasons as to why a report might be rejected but a positive rating is still given.
Q: A warning shows that the ID is low. Does that mean my report is incorrect?
A: No. This means that you should double check that you are not putting in the in-game ID instead of the TruckersMP ID.
Q: A warning shows that I am reporting a staff member. Does that mean my report is incorrect?
A: Yes. The system does not allow staff members to be reported. If you find a staff member did something wrong or questionable, please submit a feedback ticket with evidence.
Q: Why can I only create 10 reports?
A: The Game Moderation Team is being asked to rate the quality of the reports. This is being used to help get rid of the majority of useless reports that currently come through the system. The more good reports you submit, the more you will be able to report in the future. The more bad reports you submit, the less you will be able to report, to the point where you are no longer able to.
Q: I have reached my limit on the report system, what must I do?
A: You must wait for some of your reports to be dealt with. Once some of your reports have gained positive points from a Game Moderator, you will have a higher report limit.
Q: I've been banned from using the report system. What do I do now?
A: If you have been banned from the report system and wish to discuss or otherwise know the reasons as to why you have been banned, please head over to the feedback system and submit a ticket to the Game Moderation Management.
Q: My report has now been dealt with. Can I remove the evidence from my social media accounts?
A: No. The evidence must be available for the length of ban PLUS 1 month. This is to make sure the banned user can properly appeal their ban. Please note that removing evidence early could result in your report rights being removed. For further information, please refer to §1.4 of our rules.
Q: The user that got banned with my evidence keeps insulting me under the comment section. What do I do?
A: We recommend disabling the comment section or simply ignoring the user. People are sometimes heated and angry when being punished.
Q: The perpetrator messaged me and apologised for the incident. He asked me to remove the video evidence, if possible. What should I do?
A: Regardless of the user apologising or telling you to remove the ban evidence, you should not do that. Doing so may lead to a permanent ban from the report-system, and the user may be unbanned. People that got banned recently try their best to get the evidence removed, so they can violate the rules again. This is a popular method, so watch out.
